Useful Components to your Classification Essay
In any classification essay, you need to organize or sorts some things into categories depending on classification topics. This type of essay organizes sustaining details into several groups with every group having its own defining characteristics. That is why classification essay relies on example and description as sustaining details, description supporting the ways for defining distinguishing examples and characteristics illustrating the each class’s members.
There are three components to a classification essay:
1) the set of things under the classification in accordance with classification topics;
2) the scheme for classifying this set;
3) the classes into that the set is parted.
1. Any set that is being classified should share a general characteristic or be capable to be discriminated from things out of the set. If you chose biology classification topics, you will be classifying living organisms. Students, vacation spots, pets, or other general nouns may function as a set for classifying.
2. A scheme is the standard, quality, type, or function by that the components of the set are classified into classes, i.e., the rule of selection for making the groups. Biologists sort living organisms grounded on life qualities and processes. Geologists classify rocks into metamorphic, sedimentary, and igneous rocks, a classification grounded on how rocks were made.
3. Generally, when composing about every class, start with a clarification of the descriptor, the characteristic that defines the members of a particular class and distinguishes the members of this class from another class’s members. Then comprise representative instances of the class. Usually, a debate of the class comprises an assessment of the value of this class or a comparison/contrast of that class to other classes in the scheme.
